Beginning in 2028 for the 2027 Plan Year
If you had health coverage through Explore Health, you will get a Form 1095-A each year. This form includes information about your health coverage and any financial help you received to lower your monthly premium costs.
You will need your 1095-A form when you file your federal taxes.
Why filing taxes is important
If you receive a premium tax credit to help pay for your health insurance, you must file federal taxes every year. This process is called “reconciling" your premium tax credit. It helps make sure you received the correct amount of financial help during the year. If you have not reconciled your tax credit on last year's taxes, you may not be eligible for premium tax credits until you do so.
Important things to know
- You can file taxes as single if you are unmarried or divorced.
- If you are married and receive a premium tax credit, you usually must file your taxes jointly with your spouse to keep getting financial help for your health coverage.
- If you have questions about your 1095-A form or your health coverage information, the Explore Health team can help connect you with local assistance.
