Insurance agents are licensed professionals who can help you understand your health insurance options, compare plans, and enroll in coverage. Only insurance agents can recommend which plans or coverage might be best suited for you.

Assisters are trained professionals who offer free help to understand health coverage options, apply for coverage, and enroll in a plan. Assisters work for community partner organizations and do not represent insurance companies.
SHIBA provides free, unbiased help to people with Medicare and those preparing to transition to Medicare. Trained counselors help individuals understand their Medicare coverage options, compare plans, navigate enrollment, and access programs that may help lower health care costs. ODVA connects veterans, their families, and survivors with health care resources, benefits, and support services. Veteran Service Officers (VSOs) provide free, confidential assistance to veterans and their families in understanding eligibility, applying for state and federal benefits, filing claims, and appealing denied benefits, while helping them navigate available resources and services.
