Health plans purchased through Explore Health usually last for one calendar year, as long as you continue paying your monthly premium.
To keep Explore Health coverage for the next year, you must renew or enroll during Open Enrollment, which runs from Nov. 1 to Jan. 15.
Review your plan every year
Plans, provider networks, covered services, and monthly premiums can change from year to year. Reviewing your options each year can help you:
- Find a plan that better fits your health needs
- Lower your monthly premium or out-of-pocket costs
- Update your doctors or prescription coverage
You may choose to stay in your current plan or select a different plan.
What happens if you do nothing?
If you do not update your application or choose a plan before the deadline:
- Explore Health may automatically re-enroll you in your current plan if it is still available.
- If your current plan is no longer available, Explore Health may enroll you in a similar plan.
Automatic re-enrollment may not be the best option for your needs or budget, so it is important to actively review your coverage each year.
Keep your information up to date
Update your Explore Health application when you have changes to:
- Income
- Household size
- Address
- Immigration status
- Job-based health insurance offers
- Medicare eligibility
- Oregon Health Plan (OHP) eligibility
- Other health coverage, including VA health coverage
Keeping your information current helps make sure you receive the correct amount of financial help and are enrolled in the right program.
